We attended church with Henry & Suzanne, and listened to Henry preach on 'breaking down personal walls' from Eph. 2:14,15....and then carried on.
We thought we'd check out the 'Corner Gas' filming area in Rouleau, but were hugely diappointed, as all the paraphenilia was GONE. That took us about 45 minutes out of our way, delaying us for our next destination...cousin Betty Ann's (& family) house out by Elm Creek (towards Winnipeg). On the way there, Deon actually did highway driving for a WHOLE 20 minutes!!!! It was FLAT driving, with now turns in the road. Good practice for him!
We saw a black bear in a barren field, a lot of road kill, and many, many derricks on the roads of southern Saskatchewan.
We planned to stay overnight at Andrew & Betty Ann's, but then found out that our trip the next day to Sault Ste. Marie was an 18 hour drive. We quickly changed our plans and drove THROUGH the night, with Mom & I taking shifts driving and sleeping. We were thankful we did that, as even with doing that we did not arrive here in Sault Ste. Marie until 6:00 p.m.
We saw some neat sights along the way here, and were amazed at the size of Lake Superior, but overall the northern Ontario drive was quite BORING.
Tomorrow morning, we leave here at 8:00 and head for the Tobermary ferry, which will take us towards our area in Elora, Ontario. After a long day of driving today, we are all tired, and appreciate that tomorrow the ferry will take us to where we need to be.
A HUGE blessing was 2 very well-behaved kids in the van!

Fun reading your updates. What is a derrick? Too bad about the Dog River thing, though Ed and the kids really liked seeing Deon and Nathan by the sign since Corner Gas is a hit among all of them. I think it's lame. The girls were "freaked" at seeing Deon driving. Good for him though! God bless as you continue. Looking forward to your next update!
ReplyDeleteA derrick (sp?) is one of those oil-digging thingys. Hundreds of them in southern SK.
ReplyDeleteDeon has a friend that loves Corner Gas, which is part of why we went there. He's seen a few episodes, but isn't hooked.
I was "freaked" at seeing Deon driving too!!
