Leaving the harbor of Halifax around 2:30 pm, we headed for Hammonds Plains, about a 30 minute drive, to see Michael & Kelly & son Owen. We were pleasantly surprised to find our their home backed onto a lake!! Beautiful. Of course, after introductions to Kelly & 5 year old Owen & Bella (their pup), Nathan wanted to head for the water.
Michael came home from work (he's currently taking a weapons course -- i think) around 3:30 handsomly dressed in his Navy uniform. He changed and took the boys down to the dock so Nathan could fish -- Deon said he wasn't going too. After a bit, Deon couldn't resist a few casts. They didn't catch anything, but Nathan had a bite, just couldn't pull it in.
Well, Michael & Kelly have a kayak down by their dock, and Nathan wanted to go for a kayak ride badly...he would not let it go. So, after dinner, Michael graciously took Nathan out on the lake. As I sat and watched, I just couldn't resist -- the lake looked so peaceful and inviting. So, once they returned, Deon & I enjoyed a kayak ride as well. He was in the back steering, but I kept interfering trying to do his job. So, we zigged and zagged a lot, but made it back to the dock...
We enjoyed a nice evening visiting with Michael & Kelly, and Owen. It was neat to see where they lived and learn a little more about their lives.
