Flower Pots...Real Big Ones

This morning we caught our plane back to Halifax...we nearly didn't make it! Delays all around, plus I thought we only had to be a 1/2 hour early. Security definitely didn't make things easy on us either...they conviscated my salsa, and my body spray, and took about 10 minutes going through Mom's bag only to find 'magnets'. However, we made it safely, and we were all thankful for that.
After a delicious breakfast on Mom, we drove on to New Brunswick and stopped at the popular Hopewell Rocks on the Bay of Fundy. Here you can witness the evidences of low tide and high tide within a 6 hour period...at high tide there is no shore line and you can kayak in the waters; at low tide, the shore line is huge, and there are awesome "flower pot" rocks all over. What an awesome sight. Of course, I had my camera out and ready at all times...Nathan had a blast running through the mud, and I had to hose him down at the end. His blue crocs turned brown, as did the bottom six inches of his jeans. The water in that area is a milk chocolate color, so the river leading out of the bay is called "Chocolate River". It looks like a whole lot of chocolate milk.

We then headed to Magnetic Hill near Moncton. The website explains it best:
"Stories about a strange road where the wagon would run up on the horses heels when going uphill go back to the 1880's. In 1933 stories of cars rolling uphill without power peaked the curiosity of three newspaper reporters from the Saint John Telegraph Journal. In August of 1933 they traveled to Moncton and spent hours trying every hill they came to in hopes of unraveling the mystery. After 5 hours of no success they stopped to stretch their legs on the way home and you guessed it. . . the car started to roll uphill. Slowly at first and then with gathering momentum the car climbed uphill without power. They spent a couple of hours retrying the hill and using all the equipment they had brought to discover the secret. They noticed the water on the side of the road also running uphill. That ruled out magnetic properties. They decided it must be an optical illusion, but how and why they didn't know."

Deon & I both took turns in the driver's seat...it was the oddest thing feeling our van going UP the hill in neutral. We had to do it twice to really believe it!

We made it to Frederiction, NB today...in the POURING RAIN! At least we were able to enjoy our day without rain, as it started later in the day. We are staying in the hostel here, which is an OLD CONVENT!! Cool building for sure, and cheap.
